How Solar Works
  • Gerkros Solar panels are powered by light. The do not need direct sunlight. When daylight strikes the panel the light is absorbed into the panel and converted into heat.
  • This heats up the heat transfer fluid in the copper heat transfer pipe. When temperature in your panel is higher than the temperature in your hot water cylinder the Gerkros digital controller activates the pump.
  • The heat transfer fluid in the heat pipe pumps heat into your Gerkros Solar Cylinder that heats up the water. When you have sufficient hot water in your cylinder the pump stops.
  • If you draw hot water off (by running your taps or bath) as the cold water enters the system the drop in cylinder temperature is sensed by the controller and it starts up the pump to bring the cylinder water emperature up to the desired level.
Why Solar?
  • You will enjoy litres of hot water FREE each year.
  • On average you can get 70% of your domestic hot water requirements from your Solar Thermal Collectors FREE.
  • Households spend between 27-35% of their total energy costs on heating water.
